Full Bathroom Remodel Done Right - Start to Finish

Every bathroom remodel starts somewhere. Here we were working with an outdated space - old plumbing, a tired tub surround, and fixtures that had seen better days. Before any tile or finish work could happen, we opened things up to the studs, rerouted what needed to be rerouted, and made sure every pipe and wire was where it needed to be. That kind of prep work isn't glamorous, but it's the reason the finished product holds up long-term.

The floor and shower walls got a proper base before anything else went down. We used USG Durock cement board throughout - wall-to-wall on the floor, and a full waterproof membrane coat on the tub surround walls. That bright pink layer you see mid-process is a waterproofing membrane applied over the cement board. It keeps moisture from ever reaching the framing behind it. Skipping that step is how bathrooms end up with mold problems years down the road. We don't skip it.

Once the waterproofing cured, we set the subway tile on the tub surround and built in a recessed niche - framed, waterproofed, and tiled right into the wall. Clean subway tile runs wall to wall, all the way to the ceiling. The niche got trimmed out with a brushed gold frame that ties into the rest of the hardware. New tub, new brushed gold fixtures, and a multi-function shower head finished off the whole setup.

The rest of the bathroom came together the same way - consistent, thought-out, and built to last. The dark wood vanity with a white quartz top, brushed gold faucet, and a rounded arch mirror with matching gold frame give the space a completely different feel than what was there before. The patterned floor tile adds character without competing with everything else going on. Every hardware piece - towel bars, toilet paper holder, towel ring - is the same brushed gold finish throughout. That kind of consistency is what separates a good remodel from a great one.

This was a full gut and rebuild, and it shows. The difference between where this bathroom started and where it ended up is significant. It's cleaner, more functional, and a lot better looking. That's what a properly done remodel should deliver.
